    Morning all,
My wife is from outside the EU and holds a stamp 4 immigration card.
Do we need to apply for a visa for a break in the Canary Island or Spain?

I read that stamp 4EUFAM does not require a visa,
Stamp 4 to me seems similar.

    Anyone any idea?

Are you Irish? If so she needs a schengen visa as her stamp 4 will be based on being spouse of an Irish national.

If you are not Irish and are from another EU country, then your wife will have a 4EUFAM stamp. These stamps mean you do not need a schengen if you are travelling in the company of your EU family member.

So basically - if you are irish - yes you need a Schengen visa.
If you are not irish but another EU - no you do not need a schengen provided her GNIB card specifies 4EUFAM. If it doesn't then you need a schengen.

It feels a bit discriminatory to spouses of Irish I know (as we are also of course EU!) but it is to do with the Schengen agreement and as Ireland and UK are not members of Schengen, our spouses don't get conferred with the free travel rights.

But the good news is that Schengens for spouse of Irish national are usually free! it's something at least!

Thank you!! And sorry for the terribly slow reply. Yes I am an Irish citizen-But getting the visa was no problem at all-1 week I think. Applying for another this week-Can't stay out of Spain!
