I took a price about 20mins before race yest. The horse then drifted out by 5 points. Do I get paid at the price I took or the higher sp. it's was in a pp shop. Just that I notice on oddschecker that most bookies are as bog, does that mean you get paid at higher price ?

Yes; if you take the price with PP and the SP is bigger, you get the better price.

Is there a maximum bet that can be placed to still avail of the Best Odds Guaranteed or is there any maximum in Paddy Power for example.

All companies have different limits. There is always a sign in the shop, or just ask at the counter.

There won't be a maximum bet but there will be a maximum return.

Jameson Racing only guarantee board prices not early morning prices .
Would be interesting to know the subtext.

Think Powers guarantee up to €100 max or €50 each way on their own early prices but have a higher max on "show" prices

I was in Ladbrokes the other day and noticed they only go Best Odds on selected races now, they really are the pits, only ever use them if they are standout best price (which is very rare)

All bookies this side of the water will end up going the same way. Don't know about online. The thing is, BOG came along when there was a big turnover in the industry in the shops. Now that that isn't there any more, BOG is killing a lot of bookies.

I was talking to an independent recently who is waiting on a bigger bookie next door to revert back to what it used to be and he was saying neither of them were making any money whilst BOG was still in place.

If they want to survive, its just not feasible.

PP only pay better on UK and Ireland as I found out with Blackstairsmountain the weekend only paid 8/1 returned 25/1

That's pretty common, don't think you'll even get best odds gauranteed on Arc day

Ladbrokes didn't even give it for the Grand National on the day.
