Aero/TT helmet

Looking to pick one of these up to match my new TT bike and skinsuit before the Rás Connemara and a little confused by the variety available...

Previously I've borrowed a mates Giro Advantage and it was fine, tight fit and hot, I'm guessing that's normal for a TT helmet, otherwise I have no experience with them.

Is there any real performance difference between a €50 Lazer Bullet and a €275 Giro Selector, or at least one that I'm likely to notice, apart from the latter being more aesthetically pleasing and (presumably) more comfortable?

Not really a TTer, but "I have heard" the most important part is keeping your head in the right position (i.e. so that airflows as it's designed to) and that the helmet itself is secondary. As long as it's comfortable?

Buy the Bullet and cover the vents? As for skinsuit, buy something embarrassingly tight. I've heard shoe covers are pretty important too. You wouldn't think it but apparently so.

You might get a bit more leeway if you went with a triathlon suit rather than a skinsuit - you would want to be seriously in shape for the skinsuits

I already have a skinsuit lads, I'm as lean as a butchers dog :P

BMC used the Bullet in the 09 tour, can't be all that bad, just wondering if it's worth my while spending 4 times the money on a Giro/Bell TT helmet is all...

Ended up just going for the cheapo Lazer Bullet, if anyone is looking for a cheap TT helmet you'll find them here...use parcel motel and you'll get free shipping (or €3.50 if you've already used up your two free introductory stays), brings the total to ~€52...

With all this talk of TT Helmets and skin suits... is there actually gonna be some TT's for people to race in?

Seems to be a massive lack of them in the Leinster area.

I read that having an aerodynamic helmet on a TT bike is far more important and usually much cheaper than having Aero wheels. The cost of the dearer helmet the OP referred to is far less than shelling out for a set of deep section aero wheels and would probably be more beneficial, but it won't make your bike look so cool!

Just bought this, for the level I'm at it seemed like the sweet spot from a price perspective. Tx for cutting down the research.
