UPC Remote record waiting for box to confirm... and waiting...

I can't get my UPC Digital+ to remote record. No matter what I use it waits for the box to confirm, but the box clearly never talks to it and it just waits forever. Anyone know how to sort this? Its a Thomson box.

Is is set to low power on standby? That might be the cause of the problem, sometimes I can get RR to work, other times the box refuses to wake up.
