    From what I can see the threat of being fined has made very little difference to the broken and illegal lighting brigade.

    Some people just want to watch the world burn...or be in complete darkness. One or the other.

    I think a large proportion of motorists unfortunately just don't give a shit when it comes to maintaining their cars :(

    It's a potential goldmine for the government, far more income than the property tax will take in if they fined each car €100 for defective lights.

    It should be a 10 days grace fine where you must bring the car to the NCT centre and pay €10 to have them verify the lights are working, if you don't it's a €100 fine.
