Landis Gyr Smart Gas Meter

I'm not too familar with these meters but one of them has been fitted on a job I'm working on and I cannot get any gas through the meter itself.

I've gas coming through the regulator and the little trip switch hasn't popped but nothing going through the meter.

Is there an internal shut off valve on these meters or am I missing something really obvious? Maybe a certain number of button presses to unlock it? Or do I need to make a phone call?

Make sure you've credit on the card. Ring Bord Gais and they'll walk you through it in seconds

    Are you an RGI?
There is no reset on the meter itself but on the regulator.
The meter could be locked internally but there should be a lock off notice on it if it is.

It's not a pre paid meter.

    I am RGI.

It definitely seems locked internally. I've had it out of position trying to blow through it and not a budge. What's this lock off notice you speak of?

If the meter is locked off, it will have a notice on the meter notifying you the meter has been locked off either with a lock clamp over the ECV or a locking disc to block the flow of gas.
As an RGI, you should be fully aware of these procedures!
Are you sure you have released the reset button? They are different to the older meter regulator.

    Sorry, didn't understand your phrasing!

It's a brand new meter, on a new build. There's no clamp on the gas valve or any blanks in the meter itself. Certainly none that I can see.

The reset button is definitely released.

With the meter out of position, I can get gas through the regulator, so that's not the problem. Just wont go through the meter itself.
Like I said I've had the meter out on the path and wrapped me mouth around it trying to blow through it, but no luck :(

It's like something inside the meter is stopping the flow.

Then you will need to ring BGN and speak to them.

Has BGN received the Cert 1 from you?

    Got it sorted.

These new meters come with an internal shut off valve and there'll all supplied
with valve in the off position.

Whenever the meter is fitted the fitter is suppose to unlock it before he leaves site but in
    this case he didn't.

BGN sent out another fitter and a certain combination of button presses
gets it to unlock. 2 minutes and it was done. Happy out :)

On a side note, these new meters are fatter in dimension and as a result the hockey stick now
has to be routed down the back of the meter box and then back out to the inlet hole at the front of the
box (if that makes sense). A bit of a pig of a job, a definite backward step.

    Thanks, always good to know.
