Heyo folks of the "Home Appliances" forum.

We bought a new gas cooker from Fleming's Dept. Store in Monaghan yesterday. It's a "Mc Manus - Mac 55 DF" and there is this pipe that is located at the back of the grill.

Pic of the back of the cooker - http://puu.sh/2h54q.png
Close up of pipe - http://puu.sh/2h55W.png

Front the inside of the grill, there doesn't seem to be anything there.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    TIA!

That is the vent pipe from the oven, make sure its not obstructed when cooker is pushed into position

It unlikely the pipe would be obstructed when pushed in as it must be a RGI who does the pushing. ;)

Thanks for the reply. Now, the problem is, it goes up against a wall and the gas pipe comes out from the wall that will go into the left pipe on the cooker.

In the first pic, you can see a closed up pipe in the top left. The pipe that comes from the gas to the cooker is currently on the right side(not pictured), but is going to moved to the other side because the pipe from the gas cylinder wouldn't stretch to the other side.

Would there be any issues on having that 'vent pipe' that close to the actual gas pipe?

Thanks again for your replies :)

You need an RGI in to inspect and advise you, it is more than likely that your current gas installation does not meet current regs and will require alteration or re-fixing.

that is quite ok with the rgi fitting it, he will know and i hope advise the customer because padraigs missus is bound to move that cooker sometime in the future and may not know of the potential hazzard when putting it back into place, was only giving a bit of very important advise. on another note these cookers have very poor standards with that type of venting, any decent cooker will have the vent protrude through the back panel about a quarter inch and a safety cover fastened outside to prevent the vent from being blocked

Thanks for the replies guys. I will see about getting a RSI dude out to have a look at it.

    Thanks again :)
