Differences in flight prices!?

    Hey people,

Just looking for a little advice/info here regarding buying flight tickets. So, I've been to Thailand a few times at this point and I'm familiar with ticket prices at various stages of the year. However, I'm moving there to work in a few weeks and I've been looking at return ticket prices for when I may return home for a week or two.

There seems to be a big jump in price difference when purchasing return tickets when going the oppossite way, that is return from Bangkok to Dublin. It appears to be much cheaper when booking a return ticket from Dublin to Bangkok. Is there any particular reason for this and am I missing something here...? The difference is around 200 euros or so cheaper when departing from Ireland.

Any tips on other ways to book flights or online sites? I checked the above on Skyscanner.

I presume this means that you just booked a one-way to Thailand this time?

Maybe just buy a one way home the next time and then book a return from Ireland to get the cheaper rates? Could be tricky unless you're certain of your travel times.

If all the options seem to be more expensive from Thailand then that's what the market there will bear. Have you looked at alternatives like coming home from Ho Chi Minh or Kuala Lumpur or Singapore? Does the same mark-up apply there?
