So it's OK to buy black market smokes but not OK to under declare earnings

A neighbour of mine is a 20 a day smoker who buys them off a local "entrepreneur" @ €50 a carton.
I know this as I also used his services in the past when I smoked.

Anyway she was whinging about the unfairness of the property tax blah blah blah when I mentioned I'd be allowing for it in my tax returns (I've a 2nd job where everything is cash in hand).
This put her back up straight away & she started jumping down my throat over defrauding the system.

Now this one has been on the dole for the past 4 years, minds kids for cash in hand & ensures the state misses out on €8 for every pack of fags she smokes.

When in peoples eyes did it become socially acceptable to defraud Social Welfare & Customs but you're a pariah for under paying tax ?.

I know there is a bit of hypocrisy on her part but ya know, the wider population might take the view that its not ok to buy illegal smokes and its also not ok to underdeclare your income.
