Just a few questions regarding college finance.

Anyhow myself aged 20 and my girlfriend 22 are planning on going back to third level in September (DKIT)

My girlfriend will be 22 when she starts the course but will be 23 at the end of October can she qualify as a mature student ? She has already applied to CAO as a normal student.

Myself on the other was in dkit doing a level 7 course from sep 2010 to August 2011 I dropped out after first year after failing Xmas and summer exams. At the time of college I was getting the maintenance grant. If I go back to college in September to do anther level 7 course will I receive any sort of grant ?

To be a mature student you have to be 23 on Jan1st of the year of entry - so probably no

My guess is that in your case that you would have to pay full fees for year 1 and you might not get the grant for year 1. In year 2 you would then probably be eligible for "free fees" and grants.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
