I have a full license around 5 years. I want a license for pulling a small car trailer 2/4 wheel 8ft x 4ft kind of thing.

Can i get this added to my existing license or what do i have to do?

You can pull a trailer on a B license, but it depends on the weight.

I'm not 100% clear on how it's calculated tbh, i've read posts on it numerous times before on the motors forum.

Otherwise you'll need an EB license, which involves getting a learner permit, practising with L plates and the whole shebang

Sounds Like a pretty small trailer; are you sure you can't already legal tow it?
    Cars and trailers
If you hold a Full category B licence, you may tow a trailer only if:

the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer is 750kg or less, or
the unladen (empty) weight of your towing vehicle is at least the same as
the trailer’s design gross vehicle weight, and the combined design gross
vehicle weight of the vehicle and trailer is no more than 3,500kg.

When using a car to tow a heavier trailer, you must hold a category EB licence.

Apart from that I found an old thread here which might help you:
