Hi guys. A few of us are heading to stockholm on thursday week for the irish game. Checking out various websites and they seem to be saying that drink prices in bars are very expensive. Any one know what we will be paying per pint? Also rough prices in off licences? Also whats the dress code in bars/clubs? Is there a cheaper drinking option?

You'll be easily be paying 5.50€ and up in most of the regular bars. Off-licence or Systembolaget (government run off-licence)are ok not huge savings to be honest - be aware of opening hours as each systembolaget differs, usually shut before 6 during the week and about 3-4 on weekends. Regular bars - no real dress code, the central trendy bars/clubs shoes a must slacks/jeans etc.

    Some "cheap" options for you.

ROQ @ odeplan - it's a "rock" bar. decent place, nice selection of beers.
    The dubliner @ hötorget(if you're feeling homesick)
laughing duck @ centralen - again decent bar..not too expensive.

cheaper option is do what Swedes do and that is pre-drink at hotel/hostel and then go out. Its expensive enough paying between 50-70kr for a beer which isnt a pint as well.

re- systembolaget it closes about 7 on friday and last year was 3 on a saturday but can buy cheap enough cans in there but nothing tasty for the price
