XBMC Video Quality

I built my htpc two weeks ago and overall Im really happy with it except for one thing that is annoying me slightly :)
The video on any file I play is 'shaky' and the audio sync is pretty bad although I think Ive fixed this last night. Ive tried most of the settings advised on the net and if its not the audio its the video. The video problem is really apparent when there are things moving in the movie, its not to bad when there is lets say two people sitting down talking if that makes sense.
I suppose I should ad that the cut scenes in new Tomb Raider game suffer a similiar 'shaky' problem. I have a radeon 7850 in the htpc.
Im a complete noob to all this but managed to get a good few things working with it, this though is something I need help with:confused:

Oh and the tv is a sony hx853!

My, that is a nice TV :-)

I have noticed that sometimes my XBMC will apply the incorrect deinterlacing settings.

See what happens if you bring up the settings, and change deinterlacing from Auto to None. (Or try the various other deinterlacing settings)

See if that makes any difference.

I assume that you are using hardware decoding with that super video card you've got going on there. I have been using Revo or equivalent Ion systems for years as XBMC frontends and have never had a video playback issue (that tweaking deinterlacing couldn't fix)
