Car repairs - anyone know approx price, Cork

    Hey,

I need a few repairs done to my car, it's a Ford Fiesta. The left wing mirror is a bit dodgy, so needs to be replaced - would it be worth my while going to a scrapyard, looking for 1 second hand, or does anyone have recommendations? I tried donedeal.ie and adverts.ie. Passenger door locks on closing and has to be opened with a key/from the inside (doesnt have central locking). As well the spare tyre needs a puncture repaired - was told this would be about E10?, a few of the heating bars on the back windshield don't work - can you replace non working ones, I don't have a clue?, and the back wiper doesn't have a 'tip' - I saw these in Dealz, do you think they'd be okay/you could stick them on easily enough?

Erm, does anyone have any idea how much this would all cost, about, in Cork?

Haven't had a car long, so kind of don't have a clue!

    Thanks a mill :)

For parts: partfinder.ie will list local scrappies.
You can get wiper arms etc at a scrappy.

For rear window heater: First double-check you definitely don`t have a break in the window heater circuit, these can be repaired with some conductivity paints which start for around a fiver.

There's a guy in Blackpool near the Centra at the bridge, he dismantles fiestas, and is fairly reasonable for parts.

That is so handy, @Biko, thanks so much. Have sent in a request for those parts anyway :) Do you know anything about fixing the self-locking door - i.e., will I need a new lock, or can it be fixed?

Will go to YouTube, thank you! If the circuit isn't broken, is it possible to get the heater lines replaced?

Thanks a mill! And if anyone else is in an advice giving mood, please advise!

I think he's called Jerrys car parts, if you travel towards the city, he's only a few hundred mts. on your right after the Centra.

Seems a bit much for a Fiesta, is it from a breakers? Was it electric?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 274 ✭✭ash777

It's not electric. It was from a scrapyard. I was thinking it sounded a bit much.

I looked on eBay and MikesMotors, and the new ones seem to be E15-17-ish, but I'm not sure about them, because its hard to find ones that specifically say for Fiesta LX, they all seem to be for the MK types.

I'm finding it hard to get quotes from factors, my Fiesta is as LX, but it doesn't seem to be on a lot of the lists?

    Thanks :)

What year is your fiesta? the mk probably refers to the edition of the car, ie mark(mk)1, mk 2, mk3, etc.

The LX refers to the trim level of the car.

If you tell us the year we can tell you the mk of your car, as different mks will have different body panels etc
