Just wondering is it usual that a sibling gifting a house (transferring ownership not a sale) to another sibling would be charged €1700+ in Capital Gains Tax?
The house is valued at 30,000.

Property related questions are against the charter.

Transfer of ownership is deemed a disposal of property and is the same as a sale. The fact no money changes hands is irrelevant.

@Alan Shore - I'm not seeking advise as per charter rules, the query could have been more appropriately worded i.e is a transfer deemed the same as a sale.

Thanks for the reply howardmarks, that's interesting.
