    Hi

Currently have an ideal classic that is now 16+ years old as the house was built in 1996. The house at the moment is very hard to heat. An attic conversion was done during the summer which i fear has upset the heating status quo. I made a stab at balancing the rads but i don't think it was 100% sucessful. better yes but not great.

There are no controls bar the On-> Off -> Constant. There are no TRVs or room thermostat in the house. There are 8 rads of varying sizes in the house and standard cylinder from 1996 in the hotpress - Lagging jacket only on it.

So the house is a 3 bed semi of about 1000 SQ Ft and with an attic conversion that was done last summer.

What i would like to do is as follows? Bear in mind that i am not a plumber so here goes

    1) Replace the boiler with a high efficentcy condensing one >90%. what would be recommended.
    2) Flush the system
    3) Add TRVs to all rads. (one should not have it right?)
    4) add a thermostat but do i need one if i get the TRV's
    5) add heating controls - one that would allow different settings on different days
    6) add zones to allow the following
    a) Upstairs
    b) downstairs
    c) Hot water
    7) rads see below - would these need replacing.

This would be if my piping as installed would allow it otherwise would like to have 2 zones heating and hot water

Will be applying for the SAEI grant on this so would need to go with an approved supplier. also what size boiler in kWh do i need?

    Rads
    downstairs
3 - 2 double and one single in the hallway
    upstairs
4 - 2 large singles and 1 smaller single one in the box room with a small single one in the bathroom
    attic
    1 double rad

    cheers!!
