got another xbox ,what do?

got another old xbox, havent really gone near any xboxes since i made the component mods with the crystal? anybody any ideas what should be done with it this time? ive been thinking of an mp3 streamer for my soon to be finished mancave, any ideas anyone?

Buy xbox games for it? Xbmc has surpassed what the console can do these days...its back to being a console again

The original Xbox makes a nice emulation machine when it's hacked .

Snes, Nes, megadrive, mame, Colecovision, Atari 2600, C64 etc ... the list is endless .

Is soft modding an orig xbox easy enough to do ? Was thinking of picking one up.

coinops5 full thousands of rom's loads of systems nice frontend. Xbmc with navi-x plugin (great for browsing you tube and other video sharing sites, streaming tv channels and user uploaded media and capability to download also onto xbox ) i think you can get navi-x on pc aswell so you could check it out . And you should check what version the Xbox is, if its anything other than a V1.6 after the softmod get hemidals hexen disk and tsop it. Makes it alot easier to do things like swap in and out hard drives and stuff no need for locking or unlocking discs. Less likely to brick it . No need to worry if you mess something up on harddrive. a very useful disc for any modded xbox

My hard modded Xbox fulfills many roles.
It's doing video streaming duties, although doesn't do HD and there's better, cheaper solutions out there.
It's running all of my Xbox games, physical copies, with a switch to switch off the mod chip so I can play Steel Battalion (it has piracy protection)
I recommend Outrun 2 on the Xbox as it is as close to the arcade version as you can get and there's tons in there that they stripped out of the HD versions.
The system can also do a half decent job of running Mame, although there are, again, better ways to do this and a lot of bigger games don't like the systems limited memory. You are also stuck with the controller, unless you invest in a port converter.
Other emu's run just fine though, and the controller suits most with the digital and analogue options.
You could fill the HDD with Xbox game images, but this is a false economy as with tons of copied games that you didn't have to pay for you wind up playing feck all of them!

True, very true.
I was all kinds of disappointed when the 360 game turned out not to have any legacy controls, that is the ability to use the original controls, although it was always going to be unlikely.... still, the new game was pants with stupid wavey about Kinect controls.

Imagine how easy it could have been to implement. Just map some controls ffs. Would have been amazing to have another title to use it with.

Don't mean to thread hijack but I've gotten myself an orig xbox. I only got it to run a few emulators of systems I don't own. Namely Amiga for Sensible Soccer (SWOS). Easiest way I could think of to get SWOS on the CRT.

The xbox is modded (I know nothing about the mod) and plays backup xbox games from DVDs. It does not however play original xbox games from the retail discs !?

Anybody any idea why that is ? Is modding this thing doable ?

It seems to have the original xbox dashboard installed and I don't know anything about how it was modded to play backups and not originals. Any ideas ?
