    Hi all!
I dont know if this is in the right section, but I'll steam ahead anyway!

The test was up on my '02 406 so I left it into a local garage that I never used before. I asked them to have a look over it first and see what it needs and get back to me with a price before they done any work because it being a '02 I didn't want spending mad money on it. I'm no mechanic but I knew it didn't need too much, the worst part of it was the brakes which were virtually non existent, pedal traveled the whole way to the floor with very little bite.
Anyway he came back to me with just a small list of jobs and all that was wrong with the brakes was they needed new pads. Work ahead I said, I'll give ya a ring tomorrow he said. He then comes back to me that the he has everything sorted bar the brakes and its turned into a bigger job than he thought, it needs a new master cylinder, fair enough I said. 2 days later it needs a new servo, I was getting stuck for a car at this stage so I told him go ahead. 2 days later he still cant get a pedal, its something in the abs and he has to get a "abs electric pump blow" done by a lucas agent.
I collected it the next day, "that's all sorted" he said "pedal might be a bit soft for a few miles but the new pads will bed in". Paid my (quite large bill at this stage) and left. I knew driving it home it was no better but I said I'd run it through the test anyway just to see, passed on everything except the brakes, nct tester reckoned it was a danger of a car! Brought it back to the garage, he's blaming the lucas guy for not doing the "blow out" right! Anyone ever hear of this? 3 days have passed now and he keeps fobbing me off.
Anyway I'd love to just go in and take the car off him because obviously he hasn't a notion what hes at, but I paid him in good faith the first time that he had it "fixed" it so I should be getting what I paid for.
I have a hand written receipt from him for all the parts he put in and the labour.
Where do I stand in all this?
Sorry about the essay but I wanted to give ye the full details and I'm at the end of my tether at this stage:mad:
    All advice greatfully accepted:)

I would take the car back and leave it with him,you have paid! the fact that the lucas guy has not done the blow out (what ever that means) is not your problem, if the car is back at your home , i would take it back and remind him you have paid all this money and the car still has same problem, i know you will be without a car again, but if you take it to another garage you will get the another bill.

    Cheers scoop.
Ya I left it back to him last week and he still has it, its with the lucas guy now and he reckons he should have it by this evening, I wont be holding my breath!
I have him told that neither he or the lucas guy isnt getting another cent, I paid for a service that I didnt get so its up to them to sort it now!

The "blow-in" is cycling the abs pump, with diagnostic equipment, while bleeding - it's not necessary all the time as brakes should bleed fine without this procedure.

What did it fail the nct on - was there an imbalance in the brakes or was it just a poor effort all around?
