Family car suggestions

    Hey guys

Anyone got any suggestions for a family car? My wife currently has a 2011 fiesta and would be looking to straight swap it for something (or put about a max €1k to it). Basically with the arrival of little person number 3 there isn't enough room!

Criteria would be mainly boot space and wider back seat (as there's two carseats). Probably needs to be modern enough to have isofix fittings.

Not really pushed on a 7 seater. She really likes the new c-max but I think that's only from 2011 onwards so is out of her price range.

    Any ideas welcome.

    Cheers in advance.

First of all, no garage will do a straight swap unless she goes for something older and at that she will still not get a fair price for the Fiesta. Garages are in the business of making money so better off selling the Fiesta privately if you want close to it's true value.

Cheers bazz you're prob right about selling it privately I guess. Ah she does know that she'll have to drop a few years though.

What about an i30 estate? 2009 ones for around 12-13k asking?

They're good cars and very reliable. You should also check out a Kia Ceed estate same car more or less but with a longer warranty.

Ford S-max, Ford c-max, VW Sharan, Opel Zafira, etc. there is some spacious cars out there with plenty space.

edit: if you bought that fiesta new from dealer, might same one will be able swap to other Ford with some extra cash. try.

If baby no. 3 (congrats btw) means that there are two baby seats and a booster then it's probable you will have to go for a 7 seater as most saloon cars don't have the full 3 seater back seat, and as I'm sure you know already baby seats take up more than the size of one average person's rear end on the back seat!

I like the c-max also, The refinements you get in the c-max is not great. I was reading a review today. The s-max is bigger and the refinements are a little better. I am looking to buy something new also. A guy in work has a nissan qashqai 2 with 3 kids and he thinks it is great.

Hi, I have a c max. It's 2006, I put €25 a week into it. The boot is amazing for space I have fit a double buggy and 2 strollers into it before. But as to the width 2 car seats with the side impact things are fine but a third would be fairly snug. You could probably fit a booster with no back on it between the two no problem but there's supposed to be a new law coming in that is doing away with those and a back will be required. They also have tinted back windows for kids so they're not blinded but I still needed to use run shades.
