Im fixing up a mex strat which is still set up to factory standards. Its set up for .10s but Im a .09s man. Is it really necessary to change much or is that only for larger differences?

You could probably get away without changing much, although you'll only know when you change the strings.

Yeah I thought that alright. Ill be doing the setup when its fixed up but just hoping I dont need to mess with the neck.

On a slightly stranger note, anyone know if its possible to drill (neatly) through a chrome pickguard with a standard drill? Seems to be conflicting views online about it and I want to be sure before throwing 65 quid down the drain.

    course you can!

BEST way is with a pillar drill. centre punch it first, then use a smaller drill bit first, and the right sized bit to finish.

Make sure it's secured properly unless you want a metal pickguard spinning around on the end of a drill.
