Gems or Crystals in Mid Munster

    Hi, does anyone know of any public locations in North Cork or Limerick which one might be able to find some naturally occurring crystals or gemstones?

    To find anything of "gem" quality in Ireland is incredibly difficult and requires years of experience to know what you are looking for, your best is probably the Mournes for that kind of stuff (aquamarine can be found there and quite good smokey quartz).

    Crystals are not as hard to find, but again you need to know what you are looking for and have a basic understanding of geology to get half decent examples. I've been a mineral collector for 14+ years and I'm still learning all the time.

    I'm not trying to put you off or anything, and in fact if you send me a PM I'll happily give you a lot more advice on places to look and what you'll most likely find.
