Switching from Sky to free-to-air

I've recently moved from a house to an apartment and have decided not to continue paying for Sky Digital. I'm unimpressed with the channels offered on Saorview but I've heard that it's possible to receive other free-to-air satellite channels (BBC etc.). Unfortunately I've no idea how to go about receiving these channels.

Is there a particular box I can buy which will receive these extra channels as well as the regular saorview? As I can't install a satellite dish will an aerial (indoor) be sufficient? Is my location important (the new apartment is in Blanchardstown)?

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

For the FTA UK channel you'll require a satellite dish.

What TV service is your apartment block wired for, Sky/UPC/terrestrial aerial/FTA dish?

If there is a communal dish installed on the building you may be able to use it for the FTA satellite channels, talk to your neighbours/management company.
