    Hi

Looking for some clarification on the following:

Last week the vice-Chairman of our GAA club offered his resignation at a meeting of the Club Executive. This was not issued in writing but communicated verbally at the meeting.
However he stated that the resignation must be accepted by the chairman for his resignation to be valid. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

I have referred to the club constitution and its seems very vague

This happened with our treasurer a few years ago, and I think your vice chair is correct, a letter accepting the resignation, signed by the chairman (although I think the secretary might also be entitled to sign it) is the done thing. Probably best to contact your county board to be sure, it might just be that they need to be informed of it.

Fairly sure anything like that would need to be in writing, but the club constitution states if an executive member misses three consecutive meetings without explanation, they are deemed to have resigned from the executive. Bit of a weird one tbh
