Only version I have of this is on Virtual NES... is it acceptable or too different a port?

Only in the process of getting Mame set up at the minute.

I'm not going to do any more damage to my thumb if it's not gonna be a valid score in the end, ha.

Never played this before. Was about to nuke it from orbit after a few goes but it grows on you. I also remembered I bought that Mayflash adapter ages ago so was able to connect the Namco PS1 stick to the PC, awesome! Infinitely better than the EX2 yoke.

Anyway, 130300 mostly on a single ship, terrible start. Might try play some more before Sunday.

NES ? No. You need MAME.

Sick. Been downloading Mame 148 with 24gb of roms for the past few days... current progress 28.9%. Might be another while yet.

Got 145,650 on the NES version. Looking forward to seeing if there's much difference.

Man this is a cuff tunt of a game. Pretty unforgiving and to be honest I served my time playing these sort of games back in the day on the C64.

Its a long time since I've rage quit and I came close to it last night. Not sure how I'd be able to pick up the cab and fcùk it out the window but it was contemplated none the less.

This is the best I could muster. Can't seem myself going back to it!

Not overly fond of it myself, hurling abuse at the screen I was. :pac:
What bugs me most is the massive amount of space at the bottom of the screen that you can't use, the fcuk is that about, and the slow speed of the ship.

Yes, the big gap at the bottom that you can't enter but the enemy craft can is weird out.

Plus the amount of times I lost the first life with a score under 5k. Its like bullet time watching my ship and a bullet collide. I can see it about to happen but nothing can stop it.

That empty space down the bottom is incredibly frustrating alright. I try to go into it to dodge a bullet but can't move down. It's like it suddenly becomes Galaga or Space Invaders with you just skirting left and right!

Me too, and I'm the one that nominated this game. I got my years mixed up, I wanted to play 1943: The Battle of Midway.

I've given up the USB/Playstation adapter for this one, I'm back to the laptop keyboard, it's strangely comfortable. A good second best to an arcade joystick.

They key to a good score in this game is getting a hit rate of 90% plus at the end of each level. 10k bonus right there.

Two lives to begin with ain't easy either and its a serious stretch getting from 30k to 80k for the second extra life.

The key for me is actually getting to the end of each level :(

    188700

starts out as a primitive shooter but stage 3 gives you some cool weapons and a welcome change of background. The two little planes on each side POW makes your range cover 1/4 the screen and lets you get close to that 100% if you can hang on to them. Stage four or five is a bonus round too :D
