Bulb on a 2008 5 series E60 (LCI)

Parking Light bulb on a 2008 5 series E60 (LCI)

My local motor factors are telling me that BMW is the only source for these lights.
I don't really fancy paying main dealer prices for a bulb and end up paying half an hour's labour to replace it no doubt.
Does anyone know if these can be sourced from a third party (out of stock on Micksgarage) and if it's possible to fit them myself?

I've only had the car a couple of weeks, am I unlucky or are they bulb hungry - I had an e46 320 CD for 5 years and never once had to change a bulb.

I believe you can remove the parking light bulb from the holder and stick a normal bulb back in to the holder.

That's what my mechanic did on my LCI E60. Bulb from BMW is around €25 - €30 I believe, so much cheaper to find someone who knows how to do it the other way.

My 2008 has Xenons so I thought I'd be shafted when it happened to me. My local motor factors had the bulb for less than €10 and had no bother fitting it myself.

Local indy here in Cork is quoting €30 fitted.

Main dealer is €33 just for the bulb.

Wouldnt have been an Xenon bulb for 10 Euro. It was probably side light or something. BMW Xenons do not sell for 10 Euro

Is it the halo ring lights?
These are H10W on the LCI E60 Halogen headlights.
They are very hard to get outside of BMW dealers and are a c*nt to fit.
The Xenon E60 LCI use a H8 bulb which is easier to source from motor factors.

The easiest way to fit them is to remove the headlight assembly.

The E60 has a halo ring type halogen light which is used as the parking light afaik, this is why your local motor factors would not probably have them.

There are plenty of installation videos up on youtube.

In light of that then €30 fitted might not be too bad.

The first time I paid about €35 for the bulb and another €55 to BMW to fix it.
After that I learnt myself to do it..
Once you get the hang of removing the headlight (4 screws-don't remove the bottom ones just loosen them-torx screwdrive) it's a 2-3 minute job.
First headlight took me 40 mins or so while I figured it out and howto replace with the white angel eyes...2nd headlight took me 3-5 mins :)
Where are you based out of curiosity..I'm down in Limerick so could show you if u wanted to..
ah..just saw ur in cork :)

    Thanks blazer.

Had it done at lunch @ local Indy (Ardfallen, Cork). Supplied and fitted for €35.

The cars with xenons have different sidelight bulbs. :)

Yeah, 'twas the sidelight, same bulb that blew on the OP as I understood. It knocked out one of the angel eyes.
It was a normal bulb, not a Xenon.

Sorry to revive an old thread. Just had the E61 'Angel eyes' parking light module replaced by BMW main dealer in France for only 26 Euro. Not sure why these things are so much more expensive at home.

An angel light bulb has gone on my 2008 520d. Can I fit an led replacement. It seems there are so many types out there. How do I know if my headlight is an LCI or xenon? Thanks for any help.

You can get just the bulb for a couple of euros. You can remove the build from the holder using a soldering iron or similar . Stick in the new one and away you go.
