Ok so i bought a car yesterday from a person who's friend just emigrated, and guy didnt have car documents,as owner changed ownership a week back and he is awaiting to get the original cert. But he had copy of the cert that he gave to me,so would that be enough to get the car taxed or do i need to wait for original car cert.thx

    Fishy.

Anyway, should be able to tax it in person I reckon.

you probably would be OK to wait until you have the cert in your name before taxing it.It's technically an offense but I reckon provided you carry the docs you have with you you should be OK.

Hopefully your user name isn't an omen

no nick name is to alert others :D
Got all the details of person who sold me the car, including past ncts and cars log book,so trust isn't an issue, just want to get the car taxed ,as it has nct and tax just expired,so might be a week or two before i get vehicle certificate, dunno how it would go with insurance as well ?but if i have car parked in my driveway, dont see why i cant insure or tax it as im doing my duty and claiming it on my name, not trying to avoid the tax
