Kettle leads for monitors

Ive got two alessis monitors from my brother there today, but without kettle leads. Have been using two kettle leads from guitar amps, which are 250 volts, but the monitors require 240 volts.
Just wondering is it safe to use them,or could they damage the monitors?

    Cheers.

The leads should be fine - but worth checking the fuse rating needed for the speakers original cable (so basically your speakers get protected from power spikes etc)

Can you let us know the exact model of the speakers?

Ok, had a look online and can't find the rating.

I'd either ask your brother to look at the original cable to see what fuse rating it is or get some 3-5amp fuses to play it safe.

Might be worth contacting Alesis via email if he doesn't know/lost cables.

The voltage delivered is the same no matter what cable is used, unless you're powering it from a transformer, like Neurojazz says you just have to make sure there's a suitable fuse in the plug.
