    Hi all,

Just looking for some general opinions on this.

I've noticed that over the past year or two that I'm not half as interested in pursuing women as I once was.

No problem chatting to women, but seem to have lost hat vigour and libido that was once very much alive.

Is this typical of guys my age?

No. Cigarettes, alcohol, stress, fatigue, diet, physical fitness are all factors that might contribute to it. You're more likely to notice their effects in that regard at 30 than at 20, but it's not normal to lack a sex drive at 30. Suggest looking at your lifestyle firstly. If there's no obvious cause there then I'd look at physical and emotional wellbeing. There are lots of factors really. Even lack of sunlight can contribute: Melatonin production is inhibited by light passing into the retina (melatonin has been found to inhibit testosterone secretion).

Thanks for your reply, hadn't thought about some of those as being contributing factors.

    Just to narrow it down:

don't smoke, seldom drink alcohol, have a good diet, am very physically active, can be quiet tired, not a big stressor.

lack of sunlight may be a factor, tend to spend most of my time indoors.

just seems to be a lack of emotional and physical desire to look for a partner for some reason.

when you say it's not unusual, any ideas how other men combat such an issue?

    thanks again

First things first, take quick trip to your GP and rule out any medical causes...

Do you still masturbate regularly and have just no desire to go out and meet girls or has that stopped as well?

No the desire to masturbate has also disappeared recently.

Also no real desire to go out and meet women.

First thing you should do is go to your GP to alleviate any potential underlying medical issue hon

yeah go get hormone levels and all checked, then you might examine other aspects of your life. Are you happy in job, life in general.??

I would say it's not normal but it is normal for lads to go through periods where they are less interested in sex. It should pass but 2.5 years is too long and sounds to me like an underlying issue.

it is normal-for the individual to lack varying levels of sexuality if the person has always been that way.
its called asexuality and varies from those of us who have never had even the smallest awareness of sexuality to those who do have sexuality but struggle with it in different ways.

when it is a significant change in someones sexuality,it is called sexual dysfunction.
there are so many things that affects sexuality, some medications can do it,depression can do it, hormonal imbalance can do it,there is a huge list so it is worth getting a gp visit sorted, they will have seen this all before to so dont worry about that if its the sort of thing that find a worry.

If it helps, I'm 22 at the moment and when I start working on something college-related, I go into what I think of as "work mode".

All distractions are ignored, no fun, no sexual thoughts, my mind is geared entirely towards productivity and improving myself.

Maybe you're going through something more severe than this?

It's not like it's a problem anyway, if you don't want to do it, then don't.
