    Hi,

I have an old VAX hoover, but its crap. Anyone suggest a good hoover and one that can suck up 2 dogs worth of hair on carpets?!!

And which type are better, the upright one or the one you drag around after you?

    Thanks!

length of dog hair is an important factor ...
short hair = you need something with a rotating brush, otherwise the hair won't come out of the carpet.
long hair = avoid rotating brushes as they will only clog up

if you want to buy a decent vac find a dealer who sells the Henry brand and ask him about the Numatic, it is made by the same company accross the pond, they are more for the hotel/ guest hse use but it will serve you well for years and not overpriced

If you want a decent, strong vac then go for a Nilfisk gm80. The suction on them is really strong and they are virtually indistructable http://www.did.ie/nilfisk-vacuum-cleaner-gm80. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaqPm1ynQJ0.
