Possibly going to change from Subaru forester 2.5t petrol to a diesel forester (10/11). Anyone know of any issues with the diesel . Thanks

It is going to be more noisy and less refined than petrol engined.

It will also be a lot slower. But, it will be a lot more desirable should you want to sell it on, and a lot cheaper to run.

Or rather forget about drinking all together due to the huge deft in the bank :pac:.

    Could you elaborate please.
I know it will be a big difference power wise but what else?
I am currently on my 4th Subaru (impreza x 2, forester x 2) & none have ever let me down & finding it hard to try anything else.

Average 10k kms or less a year, fill up every 3 weeks approx.
Love the car but tax is a f****er.

6k miles a year? Stick with the petrol lad. Understand where you're coming from with the tax but it's not *too* bad on a 2.5. ;)

10k km is not much really (jeeezz... I cycle more than that :o). But if the tax bite you too much, I would get a 2-litre petrol. Just not sure if all that hassle is worth saving €300 per year on tax, as there are other factors to take into account.

Are modern foresters available in 2.0 petrol? I would have thought not tbh.

Upss... Only Japanese models are available with 2l NA or Turbo petrol engines.
    In Europe 2.5l only.

I'm talking about the styling of the new model, it just looks bland imo and could easily be mistaken for a Nissan X-Trail or a Mitsubishi Outback. I know the old model was no looker but at least you knew straight away it was a Forester.

    Just my 2c.

I take your point, Subaru went fairly mainstream with the diesel version but my point would be I would know what it is. You don't see too many which appeals to me. Sorry for waxing lyrical

If you are happy with the way it looks then go for it. I'd doubt there would be anything to be concerned about regarding reliability. Will be bit of a comedown in power and smoothness from the petrol though.
