I was wondering what are the best/best value online brokers out of Ireland at the moment ?

I figured you guys here would be the best ones to ask :)

Wouldn't mind knowing this myself. I used to have a corporate account, but that expired.
US shares is what I want to trade. etrade I think is a no-no for this. Davy's is pricey, who else is there... goodbody?

Davy's was bought by Fexco a few years ago and Fexco used to have a good value service offering but I'm sure there are cheaper execution only services out there now. My Davy Select account is quite expensive but the charges have come down as online has challenged it. I'd be interested to hear what the consensus is.

So anyone else got any recommednations ?
Davy and Goodbodies both look expensive to me.

Anyone know if this crowd have a good service:

Was with Sharewatch many moons ago but found them a bit frustrating to deal with.

Interactive brokers - 0.1% fee, hard to beat, can buy stocks pretty much worldwide, monthly inactivity fee.

TD Ameritrade (www.tdameritrade.com) for US trades - $9.99 per trade irrespective of size, no inactivity fee

Can you open a TDAMERITRADE account while a resident of Ireland?

You certainly could when I opened one, pretty easy process as well, obviously need the normal copies of documents but no great bother. Could I also suggest that if you're going down that route that you use somebody like Transfermate (not plugging them) rather than your own bank to fund your account, a significant saving to be made.

Has anyone tried to withdraw from a TD Ameritrade account using Transfermate? I was informed by them it may not be possible. If so what are the fees I might expect by going through my Irish bank account?
