Race number robbing

Interesting thing happened today! I registered to take part in the Bundoran 10 mile challenge and was due to run today. I was running late so I asked a mate to pick up my race pack. He rang to tell me that my race pack was already picked up before he got there!

At this point I was running too late to make the start line anyway so at least someone got to run in my place. But the point here is that someone collected my race pack with the intention of not paying and robbing someone else's number. Pure scum! The event was for charity so I don't care too much about my entry fee and the fact that I couldn't make it, but FFS!

Gonna try to get a pic of the bandit. He's not even as ethical as a bandit. How often does this happen? I' not running long and would have thought there was some honor in this sport.

He ran well though. Probably came in about the same time I would have. Maybe it was me and I imagined my kids making me late.

Could have been a genuine mistake and it could have been a mistake on behalf of the organisers to hand out the wrong pack. If you are handed a pack you probably don't hang around and inspect it and in any event how often do they have names on them. If it was intentional then obviously thats another matter entirely. Difficult to say that with certainty though.
