With the rain and cold air this morning. The feet were feeling a bit nippy on the Saturday spin. Just looking for reliable and affordable overshoes. Has anyone a suggestion as to where to get some online or in store here in Dublin?

I picked up some BBB ones from my LBS (BikeWorx, Celbridge), and they've been great. Take your shoes in with you and try them, to be sure that you can easily pull them on over the shoes (DAMHIHIJKOK?)

I swear for next winter I am gonna get a pair of neoprene surfer boot sock things to wear instead of socks.
I picked up a pair of neoprene gloves a few weeks back and the best few quid I have spent.

The Rapha overshoes are very expensive (http://www.rapha.cc/overshoes/).

Despite that I highly recommend them. They are hard wearing and long lasting, made from neoprene. I have used them commuting and on long spins in very very cold weather. Feet stay warm.

I have bought cheaper overshoes and they have not lasted as long, nor have the worked as well.

I think I might get one of the BBB shoes, but as you can see from whats available on chainreactions.com there are so many available. I dont know which one I should go for:confused:

What are the Rapha ones like in very heavy rain/flooding when continually getting splashed from passing traffic?

I have the BBB Heavy Duty ones. They're fine most of the time but as in my query above, they let in the water in very wet conditions.

Has anyone used thin oversocks combined with overshoes?

Mine don't seem to be listed on there, they are the Ultrawear, and are quite heavy neoprene. Execellent waterproofing, and warm to boot

Just a question lads before I go ordering. If i take a size 44 in shoes should I go one size higher in the overshoes to ensure they cover the shoes completely?

I think you're supposed to get the same size as your shoe. They usually cover 2 or 3 sizes anyway. There's plenty of give in them - I rather have them tight than loose.

thats why I said about taking a shoe in: I needed to get size 45/46 to fit over a size 43 MTB shoe. I guess it depends how bulky the shoe is.

Don't buy these: Craft Neoprene Bike Bootie Overshoes, my 4-month-old pair are coming apart at the seams.

I have the BBB heavy duty and find them great for the cold and the open sole system is great for mtb shoes which I use for commuting. I have also theShimano Pro Tarmac NPU overshoes which I reckon are the best allrounders (for cold and wet)I have used
