hello,my car failed the nct this morning because the airbag light is not coming on.
    it's a 2000 mitsubishi spacewagon 2.0 petrol, the old n33 model.

i've never noticed the light coming on before and dont't know where the light is even.

anyone know what may be wrong or have a picture of where the light is.

    thanks.

When you engage the ignition ( the step just before the engine fires ), there will be a host of light displayed on the dashboard. One of these is the ABL.

Unfortunately, particularly in older cars, the bulbs are removed prior to selling the vehicle to conceal a problem. If there is no light at ignition stage, and you don't recall EVER seeing it, well this could be the case.

1st step is to remove the dash / clocks and see if the bulb is present. If not, replace and diagnose the fault from there (you will need diag equipment which you most likely will not possess. A dealer will prob charge €50 approx just to tell you what fault is present, and at least give you some indication of what the a fix will cost.
The cost of repair could easily outweigh the value of the vehicle, and as you have seen, the absence of a light or indeed one that fails to go off is an immediate NCT fail.

If you are handy, just google dash / clock removal on your model and go from there.

    Best of luck.

It could simply be that the bulb is blown!

True, and with a bit of luck it is, but my money's on the other.
