Has anyone hear about a new treatment to replace teeth with stem cell ie grow missing teeth. I think it has been talk about for some years now but it should be soon available to the public.

I know a chap who is doing research into this area, says it is on the cards but is about 18-20 years away.

Problem is we can grow enamel, dentin, pulp tissue however getting them to grow into a proper tooth is more difficult, then getting that to grow in the right place in a person, at the right time, and the correct tooth for the position is extremely difficult, and in all fairness growing somebody a kidney would be a better research project seeing as we have dental implants already a very mature technology.

It gets into the news with the typical big headlines every time a tiny step in the right direction gets announced by a university research team.
It is possible theoretically, but the main driver will be cost. It will need to be at a lower cost than implants to be viable. For now that is unrealistic.
