Searching pdfs on a network drive

Hi

I have a bunch of pdf documents sitting on a NAS box and I'd like to do a full text index on them and allow other users on the network to apply a search.
I can run software on an NT box if necessary and our clients are predominantly XP with a few Windows 7 boxes.

Any ideas for software to look at?

You could just get them to search through Acrobat:

There is also Adobe ifilter.

Yes, I know about searching multiple files from Acrobat, but without an index it's dog slow.

I'd forgotten about ifilter. Would ifilter need to be installed on each client and each compile their own index?

Ideally, I'd like something that sits on a server and compiles a single index, hosting searches perhaps over a web interface. I'm even thinking something like Joomla could do the job.
