Scroll up and there are two Irish Disasters - the Donegal one is interesting. Never heard of it.

Join the Navy, they said ...
See the world, they said ...
    But what did I see?
    I saw the sea ...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

The Captain Pugwash Captain Pugwash cartoon, which originally ran on the BBC between 1958 and 1967, is widely believed to have featured characters with risqué maritime names such as Master Bates, Seaman Staines, and Roger the Cabin Boy. In fact, the crew of the famous Black Pig ship included sailors with no such names: present on board were Master Mate, Tom the Cabin Boy, and Pirates Barnabas and Willy. (No character with the designation of 'Seaman' appeared in the show.) Series creator John Ryan successfully won retractions and settlements from the Sunday Correspondent and the Guardian after both newspapers claimed that the show's characters did indeed have smutty names, and that the BBC had taken it off the air as a result.

Strange, I remember watching the series as a child and remember those names very well! ( Seaman Shaines & Master Bates but not Roger the cabin boy)

Well, I expect you would have to pay someone to do your laundry ...

This reminds me of that time George Hamilton said "The near post was covered by Seaman" in reference to the ex Arsenal goalkeeper.

    Huh huh, that was funny.
