    Hi Guys,

I done a quick search and couldn't find an answer to my question:

Does anybody know any good mechanic that will fit parts that I have bought online?

I tried the franchises, but they wont fit any parts not ordered by themselves.

    Thanks

    Keith

most mechanics steer well clear of that sort of thing...the main reason being... if they strip down a car to work on and the part is wrong, they cant just pop back to ebay to get the correct part to finish the job. This now leaves them in the predicament of the ramp the car is sitting on being held up and they cant do any other work until that car is out of the way.

Scully's on the Howth Road if you're looking for a Garage. Any Indy worth his salt should also do it though.

Edit: Just to add from what was said above, it'll be up to you to ensure you have the right parts for your car. Worst case scenario they'll put it back to the way it came in, but you'll be charged for the labour anyway...

Thanks for the response. I can understand that, I bought the parts from micksgarage so they were 100% the right parts, matched to the reg number, so maybe I could say this to the mechanic?

    Thanks

i sell car parts for a living and trust me... buying from micks garage and putting in your reg number doesn't guarantee they are going to be correct. Most mechanics only really trust a certain parts man to get the correct parts and even at that there is always a bad listing or boxed wrong part or oddball car.... trust me...i see it all the time

Unfortunately, giving the reg when ordering parts is no guarantee that you'll get correct parts.

In fact I hate ordering parts that way, I also never rely on the parts guy to give me the right part either. I prefer to check the relevant reference books/online catalogs myself and then just call and say I want X part number, then I know it will be correct.

The issue with garages fitting parts they haven't supplied is also about warranty claims. If the garage supplies the part its straight forward but if they don't and the part goes faulty, who are you going to try to claim, the garage or the supplier/manufacturer?

And also, if the part is wrong, are you going to pay the labour rate for refitting your old parts back into the car(if possible) and then removing them again when you get the right parts if you want to take the car away in the mean time?
