Jessica Chastain is looking likely to star as
Jane in Warner Bros' upcoming reboot of Tarzan.
    Jessica Chastain set to
    play Tarzan's jungle-partner

According to The New York Post she's the studio's first choice to play Jane opposite True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard in the role of the legendary
    apeman.
Tarzan will be directed by David Yates, who is most famous for calling the
shots in the final four Harry Potter movies.
Samuel L Jackson is rumoured to play an ex-mercenary who assists Tarzan in
his mission to save the Congo from a vengeful warlord.

Not sure if this is the best role choice for her but I guess who could pass up working with Alexander Skarsgard especially if he will be nearly naked most of the time :p

I was reading about this today, following the death of veteran producer Jerry Weintraub who was part of this. In addition to the cast already mentioned (Robbie, Skarsgård, Jackson), the movie will also have Christoph Waltz, John Hurt, Simon Russel Beale, and ... Djimon Hounsou as Chief Mbonga. (!)

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

    just back from this .

    BRILLIANT.

seriously way waaay better than i thought it was gonna be despite the pure bitchfest it got off the critics.

this is the sort of film that makes people think all that shyte about ghostbusters has legs as how the hell this can get 36% on rotten tomatoes from them and ghostbusters gets 73% is a complete bloody mystery (particularly when you look at what audiences gave both films respectively)

its an out and out kiddie friendly adventure yarn, albeit it one that touches on themes of slavery, colonialism, and genocide. maybe THATS what put the wind up the critics but IMO its done very well. in fact jacksons character comes off as haunted at times when he relates what he's seen in his time and the regrets he has.

margot robbies jane is a feisty female lead while tarzan is almost reluctant to take up his old role. the film manages to impart how the couple are caught between the two worlds of africa and the UK. In the end its blindingly obvious where they belong and how out of place in "polite society" their upbringings has left them. still its fun to see it play out.

the plot makes logical sense and even Djimon Hounsou's chief's motivation for wanting tarzan makes tragic sense by the third acts revelation.

all in all this is a flim made for da's/mas to bring their kids to and serves that audience well. its even funny where it means to be. i was actually surprised at just how many were at the showing i was at as usually im one of only very few at 2pm on a tuesday. particularly considering how long this films been out already.

    solid 8/10 from me.
