Study on Lion survival in fenced and unfenced protected areas

    Given that very few wild Lions now survive outside protected areas, I think the above study calls it right. The same could also be said for most of Africa's mega fauna as an exploding human and livestock population steadily consumes whats left of unprotected wilderness areas.

    PS: The link mentions the great work of the Lion Guardian charity that employs local tribal people to protect lions in Kenya and Tanzania. Its a charity I myself donate too occasionally and has achieved great results in boosting depressed Lion populations in the areas it operates in. It also brings money and employment into local communities and is a great model where local communities and wildlife benefit. It also boosts the vitally important safari tourism industry which is a big money earner in these countries. http://lionguardians.org/
