    Hi all!

I'm thinking about picking up a slimline ps2 for the first time. There are a few old titles I own and love (mate lent Memphis console for 6 months once).

I was wondering if there was anywhere somebody had seen old unsold packaged ones? Like a toy shop or independent games store (if one exists). They must have had excess stock that didn't sell somewhere right?

If I did have to go second hand, would there be anyway to see what the most recent slimline versions were? Or is it just a case of 'suck it and see?!'

Or should I just chip a PS3? That's possible right?

Thanks for any help or advice!

The guys in the Arcade and Retro forum are probably the best to ask on this.

I'd imagine ebay and amazon would be good starting points.

Rage as well (off George's Street) for second hand stuff.

There was a boxed(not new) ps2 in Dublin Simon shop on Camden street 2 weeks ago, could still be there

In terms of modding the big ps2's are easier I think since you can stick a hard drive in them and reduce loading times.

    There's this on amazon http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B00023HUMG

Or if you want a brand new Japanese console

    http://m.play-asia.com/paOS-13-49-en-70-2ee2.html

The most recent ones will have model number scph-90000 and are still in production AFAIK but I think they were only released in the states and Japan.

Oh I know, but they're just examples.

You could pick up a secondhand one if you were going to use it regularly. I don't think it's worth forking out that money for a new one unless you're looking for one to keep for a collection. Once you take it out of the box and start using it it's worth no more than a secondhand one. There's a small chance some may appear as was with the case of the new PS1 on adverts a while back.
