Hi guys, hopefully just a quick one here. Basically I'm looking to get rid of an old car. And while I'm not hoping to make a mint or anything on it, I don't want to be blatantly ripped off either :) its dog eat dog out there.
I was kinda hoping for at least €200 tbh, rang 2 places and got offers of €75, and €100, would that be about right??

What kinda of money should I be expecting if I sell it to a breakers?

The car is a small Seat Arosa like this:

    1 litre, 97 D, 90,000 miles on it.
Its probably going to be scraped rather than sold on, the engine runs perfect tbh though it has got a bit of wear and tear over the years to the body and that, also the clutch is gone (one of the reasons I decided to go for something else) not to mention the fact that it looks like a washing machine on wheels! :pac:

I really haven't much experience in this area, so any thoughts are welcome! ;)

I'm going out to look at something (a bit manlier) over the weekend, so any extra few quid would be helpful ha!

When you scrap a car - you are not selling it, rather you are getting €100 for the convenience of someone taking it off your hands - they will most likely break the car and sell the parts over time or turn it into scrap metal so your not in the position to "sell" it to a breaker, or any car really.

It sounds like a good running car with low mileage for a 97 (bar the clutch issue) so put it on Done Deal and sell it privately, you will get a lot closer to your €200 request. I'd say list it for €400 ONO :)

I think I will throw it up on done deal then! Cheers for the advice. :D

I genuinely wasn't sure what it would be worth.

It probably just sentimental ha, but it is a great car, very economical too, I'd be sad to see it scrapped.
It would be brilliant for someone to take on and learnin it, as its so small it fits everywhere, and you wouldn't really be worried about a little bump on it too:P
