Road bike rentals?

    Hi all,

I'm wondering if anybody knows of anywhere that rents road bikes in Ireland. I would be looking to rent the bike for about 2 - 3 weeks.

I am very keen to take part in the cycle against suicide but unfortunately I'm without a road bike at the moment.

The only place I've found that rents road bikes is Paul McQ's place in the Phoenix Park but they only seem to rent bikes by the day. I was hoping that there was somewhere more like that places you find in Europe that rent bikes for longer periods.

I know it would make more sense to buy a bike but that's not an option right now.

Anyway, if anyone knows anywhere it would be great.

    Cheers,
    Joe.

Never used them myself but you could try the UCD bike shop. The Giant Defy might be just what you're looking for.
These guys in Sandymount seem to do it too so probably worth a call.

The UCD bike shop prices seemed reasonable until I saw the €500 deposit. That's not exactly something I have lying around. Guess I'll just have to wait until I can buy my own road bike to do the Wicklow 200 :(

I rented a Scott S50 off 2wheels in Sandymount last summer; I think it was e35 for Saturday and Sunday. It was my first time in the shop and the guys in there were great, really helpful.

Having said that, would you not be better off scouring adverts.ie and donedeal in search of a reasonably priced bike? I'd say the minimum you'd pay for three weeks rental would be e250-300. With a bit of luck you'd be able to pick up something suitable second hand for that price.

I know that the Phoenix Park rent a bike will rent out bikes for 2 or 3 weeks if you need not just for the day.
