Hi regular poster here on boards had to post anon because my friends know my username and in case they will read this and tell my family.

Since I was 5 years old I knew I'm a girl trapped in a boys body past 19 years have been hell (don't want to talk about it, crying too much lately) and living in rural Tipperary most people are transphobic homophobic the lot. I am sick of it and plan to leave here :) (makes me happy thinking about it) I plan to go to the UK and get my surgery on the NHS. Sure it has been raised before on here but why is the HSE not offering this surgery here and the mental health service is **** and they write **** on letters to your doctor saying you are gay (i'm bi and not GAY) and this was just a phase. We are like 80 years behind most of the world.

Hi OP, While its true the surgery isn't offered here (theres a fairly reasonably explaination for this; there simply isn't the numbers availing of the Surgery here to make it worth while for the HSE to employ a specialist here for it) There are doctors who are willing to help, such as Dr. Kelly here in Dublin (who is great btw!). I do agree that things have a long way to go before its in any way acceptable, hope you get sorted out! And I can help if you have any questions :)

There is plenty of help for transgender people in Ireland, go to www.teni.ie they have a lot of resources and can help you out.

I'd also advise speaking to Dr. James Kelly in Dublin, he's an excellent psychologist and has a lot of experience with trans people in Ireland.
