Spotted this and am a bit of a fan of the P5B.

Curious to know what the clever people on this forum might think, as I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to metal things with wheels...:o

I don't know much about them but I do know that this is the more sought after and it's a bit cheaper and all.

The coupe are more sought after but not the straight 6 3 litre one, go for the P5B coupe with the V8 engine. Be prepared to spend lots on fuel though!!

Yeah the 3 litre one is probably more suitable for the current Ireland we live in.

Bit on the steep side maybe?

Thanks all. I know the P5 is probably the favourite of the Rover purists, but I figured that the P5B would be a bit more practical as the Buick/Rover V8 engine has been used in so many different cars that it shouldn't be hard to find parts / experts etc.

Would actually prefer the P5B Coupe but I don't see any nice ones for sale for reasonable money at the moment.

I've already started saving up for the petrol.

Quentin Wilson did a piece on the P5B on the old Top Gear

There seems to be a pretty big range in prices for these, both coupes and saloons.. I don't really know enough about them to know if its justified but I have to say if it was me I'd be going for the B.....

There was one at the recent show at the RDS, parked outside with a for sale sign on it.. I have to say it sounded pretty sweet but didn't get a good look at it. The 11 grand price tag put me off!

Hmmm...with unlimited funds and storage space, this would make sense as a parts donor. But as I live on an estate I'd imagine I'd get no end of grief from the neighbours for having this crumbling on my driveway, not to mention the wrath of Mrs F. :D

The P5B is one of those cars that has an unmistakable presence. I always liked them.

I quite liked the idea of arriving at places in a 'Wheeled Cathedral'.:D

A few years back, I went to look at one with the intention of buying.

Maybe it was because it was stored in a small shed, but it looked Massive....& unweildy.

I went off the idea straight away..

The vendor also had a P6, which he was restoring. Seeing it planted a seed.

    A few months later, I bought a P6B.

    Brilliant car!
