Tonight is my night and I SHALL win the lotto, on this matter I will hear no more you guiless cullies;-)
I've put aside 50, 000 for the car budget and with this I'd like....
1; A decent daily commuter with sensible mpg 33-40, comfortable and safe, doesn't handle like a boat and looks ok.....ish. Has to be 2 litre or under and petrol.
2; A weekend car which has to be sporty looking, 4x4 or rear wheel drive and engine size can be anything. 2 or 4 seat (no M5 in other words)

I'm not really bothered about the vintage of my cars, most of the 19 cars I've owned in the eight years I've been driving have been pre 2000 and reliability isn't really an issue as I wouldn't mind putting the new ramp I'll also be getting into use every now and then.

    2; BMW 1M

As for one, hmmm not too sure what I'd go with. Maybe something big like an A6 avant with some big diesel in it.

You win the lotto and your first choice is something sensible with good MPG?

    GTFO.

Doesn't he want under 2 litre and petrol for the first one?

No suggestions OP but if you won the lottery, would you not be spending more?

I'd have a 3.2 Brera, a six series for our everyday cars, then OH would like a classic escort

Don't think €50, 000 would get me them, or would they? Maybe a 2006 328 and a year or two old scirocco r

House for me and her with a big garage, help out my older brother with a deposit for a mortgage, pay the remainder of my mothers mortgage and the girlfriends mothers. Then a big wedding for me and her.
I can't afford to go wild in this fantasy...

I said fantasy but it's really only a matter of time.
I'm not greedy and genuinely if I won I'd help family and friends before my luxury desires.

    It's 2 million quid?

    750k for house.
    50k to brother.
Say 250k for the two mortgages
    20k for wedding.
    500k in the bank

That leaves you with 430k, surely you could spend a bit more on the cars?

Anyways, to answer your question OP I'd have an E46 M3 & E39 M5 and use the spare €30,000 to cover the running costs of them.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,243 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

If I won the lotto i'd be going for an R8 for 2 and M5 and/or RR Sport HSE as the family runaround. Plenty of change left over to sort out the family

This is why I play the Euromillions. I'm not going to win either, but at least it allows me to dream once a week. My fantasy garage would consist of an M6 Gran Coupe, RS6 Avant, GT3 RS 4.0, 458 Spyder, F40, Aventador and either a LaFerrari or a Veyron SS.

Why can't people just go along with what an OP asks for?

You could earn 100K+ gross every year in investments. Pissing away money on houses, cars and gifts would ultimately see you in lesser cars for the remainder of your life.

    An s60 t5

For 2 an oldish V8 of some sort, XKR, BMW 645

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,204 ✭✭✭dodderangler

Just give me the 50 grand and let me get a new car for myself

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,072 ✭✭✭keithsfleet

I never really done the maths to be honest but if I win 2 million I'd like to have enough to live comfortably for the rest of my life.
I know it's only a fantasy but it's a realistic fantasy. I'd love to spend the remaining half million on serious super cars but if I did my weekly wage wouldn't cover maintenence and running costs.
    Outlandish for fantasy talk...

I bet they need to be cheap to tax too. :pac:

Might as well just spend the whole 50k on hookers and coke so.
