    Hi,

Does anyone know any decent pubs in Paris? I'm looking for somewhere that has a good craft beer selection.

Last time I went all I could see was Heineken or Stella.

    thanks

Tough call. The Frog & Rosbif is one option. Their beers are very good when they're good, but their quality control is often not what it should be. Prices are reasonable during happy hour, but are Parisian at other times.

I quite liked Au Trappiste at 4 Rue Saint Denis: a good mix of Belgian standards and some more interesting French stuff.

And while I've not been, I've heard great things about Le Quincampe at 78 Rue Quincampoix. It's right next door to La Cave à Bulles, the best beer shop in Paris.

    I would echo BeerNut's recommendations.
Have read good things about "La Fin Mousse"
    6 Avenue Jean Aicard

    Paris, 75011
I haven't been but when I get back to Paris I will defo go.
From the reviews, photos & website, it seems they have a good selection.

After visiting the Centre Pompidou; for a welcome thirst quencher and something to eat go to "L'Art Brut" @ 78, Rue De Quincampoix - A really cool place, they even have Montenegrian "Niksicko" Beer - tasty!

    From the website reviews;
"Two days ago I passed by the bar L'Art Brut. When I was searching
for the link, I found this website, where among other things is also written: "A charming little bar specialising in Belgian bottled beer.
Often studenty crowd with a very sarcastic barman.

Suddenly I remebered that someone told me about the bar owned
by two Serbian brothers. I got the address and went there immediately. I stoped near the bar, waiting. The barman approached. I said
: "A glass of red wine, please". "Is vranac ok" - he replied. "Perfect". "Milan". "Boris". "Nice to meat you". While I was slowly drinking
my wine, Milan was doing his job. After a while, he stoped near me
and asked: "So, what are you doing in Paris?". I answered: "
I'm studying film and in my school, they ****ed me really hard.
They selected my script, I have to shoot in the bar but I can't find one." His smile was big as his heart: "You will shoot here, of course!".

And of course, we shot the film in two days, turning his bar upside down but at the end he was also very pleased with our work
(because bar looks just great). The DOP was Luc Walpoth,
producer Ana Jordanova, music by Boris Pokora and main characters Olga Zekova and Julien Boissaud.

Anyhow, if you want to hear some good music, to enjoy drinking
while slowly eating cheese and sausages, this ia a place.
L'Art Brut, 78 rue Quincampoix, just a step away from Centre Pompidou".

Very, very hard to find good value in beer in Paris.

This place has 50cl for maybe 4 euro.

As a result, it's often crammed with students.

    See http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/europe/paris-with-lots-of-bottle-8434570.html

Enjoy, but remember that most craft beer pubs in Paris are Belgian or English in 'flavour'.

I found the flight in and out quite reasonable for a beer.

Saw Au Trappiste advertised as having over 100 draught beers or some such thing, in fact they have about ten on tap and a decent menu for bottled stuff but it's really expensive, even by Parisian standards, at about €8.50 for a bottle of Erdinger.

Dunno why you'd go there to drink Erdinger... :P I had a draught Belgian lambic and I don't recall it being outrageously dear. But I was probably desperately thirsty.

I like Erdinger, I'm not really into Trappiste beer as I a lot of it is too sweet or syrupy or both. They had a ****e ale selection too :)

I found myself drinking Leffe in most places, or Grimbergen, Surprised myself with the LEffe as I'd tried it here and didn't like it, it did taste different over there though, one particular day we spent about 3 hours walking around Pere Lachaise cemetery in the sun, freezing cold though, it was really quiet too, the beer after that tasted ten times better than any other drink I had that week :) Paris is one of those places though, you can go for a glass of beer and not have ten more.

I'd love to drink somewhere like that. The shackles they use in Dublin pubs really chafe my wrists.

The Frog is a chain and all the Frog bars have the same beer selection so if you're going to try it out I'd suggest heading to the Frog & Princess on Rue de Princess. That way you can head across the road to O'Neils brew bar which has a decent selection.

Until I saw this thread I had never considered putting Paris and craft beer in the same sentence :) If you're looking to try out new beers then there are a whole host of places called 'bars à bières'. They'll often have a huge selection but can be very pricey and rarely have the same atmosphere of a pub in Ireland.

These places though all serve a good range of beer on draught & bottle and are places that you'd be quite happy spending a few hours :)

    BrewBerry
    Le Troll Café
    Le Falstaff

source : 15 years living in Paris but have just moved to Brooklyn, the mecca of craft beer :)

I thought the beer in O'Neil was pretty poor, and the Frog & Rosbif is a nicer pub than the Frog & Princess, but YMMV.

I'd say the lads in Portland, Oregon and San Diego might take issue with that :)

Yeah, it's a nicer bar having so many windows and light but there's not a huge choice of places around it should you want to head elsewhere. There are certainly bars but around the Frog & Princess it's more of an area to wander and offer a larger choice.

In saying that I only ever went there when we had guests visiting, rarely venturing out of my part of town.

What I meant is that I'm not one to have a beer unless I'm going somewhere to have a beer, I found myself having a casual beer with lunch on a number of occasions in Paris, partly due to the culture of it there and partly because I was on holiday.
