So going to the gym today and I was behind a man towing blocks and a wheel barrow on top of them, not tied down. I stayed well back in the case of something coming flying off. We were doing roughly 60kph on a 80kph road. Course you can see what happened next, the wheel barrow flew off the back of the trailer and started to come towards me. I got outta the way of it- narrowly though! If a car was coming against me, well I fear to think of what might have happened.

Basically, the driver stopped and tried to blame me for his wheel barrow flying off! He accused me of trying to make him go faster then he was comfortable doing. I called BS on that because I was a good 50metres behind and was more then happy to drive at that speed. After some time I said that I wasn't going to argue with him anymore and was going to report him for the lack of indicators/brake lights on the trailer and also mention how he almost caused an accident with his wheel barrow.

I don't know what will come of it but I gave the guardai his registration and they said 'they'd look into it'.

Ah theres a load off my chest:pac:

I'd be AMAZED if the Gardai looked into anything other than strike action at the minute

I wouldn't have reported him only for his arrogance.

Dashcam would save your ass. Stupidity on his behalf. Sensible thinking on your behalf.

I doubt he'd have much argument if his goods damaged your car as he should have them securely fastened...

Still a wheelbarrow coming through the windscreen could have killed you. Push it more with the cops I suppose. Pressure them to pressure him.

I reported a driver to her insurance company for hitting my parked car and then denying it even though I was sitting in the car and my paint was on her bumper. Never claimed but it left an open claim on her policy which would have caused hassle around renewal time. All she had to do was get out and say sorry and that would have been the end of it

I must invest in one just for moments like this.

I was more concerned about the blocks all falling out at the time, glad I stayed back.

Its amazing what a bit of common courtesy can do. I would have said it's fine and carried on if he had apologised.

Ah the old "It's someone elses fault, not mine" excuse.
    I hate that shit

Fair play to ya OP. You were dead right to report him. Asshat.

It was ridiculous, I've said it to a few people about how much distance would they consider to be 'pressuring someone to drive faster' and they said I kept a perfectly safe distance.
