Queries regarding DT228

    Hi lads!

Just a few questions regarding course DT228, Computer Science. I'm currently in 6th Year, but at the moment the course is pretty high up on my CAO and I just wanted to settle some reservations I had about it. If anyone currently in the course or has completed it would be willing to answer some of these questions, that'd be great.

1: Is the course maths intensive? How would someone with LC Ordinary Level be able to handle it?

2: How are the facilities at the Kevin Street campus? Not just the computer labs, but the building(s) in general.

    3: How are the lecturers/lectures?

4: Overall, is the course worth doing? For those of you currently in it or who have finished it, how would you rate it and why?

5: How work-intensive is the course?

As usual, my mind has gone blank with regard to more questions. If I think of any more I'll drop them below, but for now if anyone would be willing to answer those above it'd be great!

    Cheers, and thanks in advance!

    EDIT:

6: And what's the story with work placement?

    im in 3rd year CS.

    1. not really, certainly not as bad as some other CS courses. should handle it.

    2. they are fine, nothing great but can't complain about it. Labs are fine apart from the weeks assignments are due and they are packed with people.

    3. its like anywhere else, some lectures are great others not so much.

    4. i suppose.. its a personal thing. if you graduate you should get a job. some of the stuff you do is crap but its like any other course in that way.

    5. nah i dont think its that bad, most lecturers are fairly sound about extensions on assignments.
if you show up and pay attention you'll fly it, its the paying attention stuff thats the hardest.

    6. its fairly handy, just need to make sure you pass your repeats and are prepared for your interviews. college sorts the interviews for you.
