iPod nano 4th gen

So I bought my cousin's 4th gen nano off her, but it won't let me restore it or anything. When I try click restore it comes up "there was a problem downloading the software for the iPod XXX's iPod. You do not have permission to access the requested resource." I can't get back to hers to try see if she can restore it…
